Chelsea haven’t only had a perfect start to the season, but the Blues have been playing unbelievable football as well.
Maurizio Sarri has introduced his Sarri-ball style of play and the Chelsea players have adapted seamlessly. This has seen the Blues win five straight league games and have had the most possession in Europe this season.
Sarri was appointed as Chelsea manager in July and former boss Antonio Conte was given the sack. Sarri’s appointment was greeted with mixed reactions due to his lack of silverware, but after five league games, the Italian seems to have won the favour of everyone.
Sarri might not have won the league with Napoli, but his record in Naples speaks for itself. However, the 59-year-old who struggled at first to get his Napoli team to top level in his first season is surprised that Chelsea have been an instant success.
“I am surprised because in Naples the beginning was very difficult, the first month,” Sarri said.
“Here at the moment I am very happy with the situation, with the players, with the club. But I know the Premier League is a very competitive competition so I know in the future I will have to face some difficulties.”
Not many gave Sarri a chance when he was given the job, and not many predicted that Chelsea will even make the top four. But with the way the team is playing and the confidence revving up in the Chelsea squad mixed with the form of a certain Eden Hazard, no one will bet against Chelsea not being one of the league’s best team at the end of the season.
While, it’s too early to say Chelsea will win the league as the season is still fresh, one can be certain that the Blues will at least fight for the title till the end.
