Maurizio Sarri replaced Antonio Conte as Chelsea boss over the summer and he took midfielder Jorginho with him to Stamford Bridge.
It appears Jorginho wasn’t the only player Sarri wanted to bring to Stamford Bridge from Napoli.
Napoli right-back Elseid Hysaj was linked with a move to Chelsea during the summer and his agent has now confirmed Chelsea wanted the Albanian defender.
The move to Stamford Bridge was blocked by Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis, who ensured Sarri was unable to take any Napoli player with him to Stamford Bridge besides Jorginho.
The 24-year-old right-back has since been criticised for a loss of form during the early weeks of the season.
“Those who criticise him probably never make mistakes, but the rest of us are mere mortals,” Guiffredi told Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli, according to Daily Mail.
“Without that clause he probably would have gone to Chelsea this summer.
“People forget that he was one of the best two or three full-backs in Europe last season. Then it just takes two or three matches for him to become a donkey.
“I always say to let everyone talk and then respond on the pitch.”
