John Terry played for the first time on Wednesday since suffering an injury late in the game against Swansea. The Chelsea captain played against West Ham on Wednesday in the EFL Cup, and his performance wasn’t really assured.

The Chelsea captain didn’t look convincing in the new formation, but Antonio Conte has come to the defence of his captain.

He said: “I don’t like to talk about individual players and their performances,’ said Conte, when asked how he felt Terry had played. ‘We win together and lose together. John was coming back from an injury and it’s not easy to start quickly and adjust to the shape, but I’m satisfied with him and the team.

“We wanted to win and continue in the cup but it didn’t happen, which is a pity. On Sunday we have another tough game so now we must stay concentrated on this game.

“John is an important player for us whether he plays or not, around the changing room, for his team-mates and the club. What’s important is the team.  I have to always make the best decision for the team and never for an individual player.”

Chelsea is more than just a football club to me; it's a passion I share, and my affinity with the Chelsea badge is one that will last forever. As far as watching my favourite team is concerned, I'd rather miss a meal than miss a Chelsea game.
