Chelsea’s participation in the EFL Cup came to an end after the 2-1 defeat to West Ham.

Goals from Cheikhou Begovic and Edmilson Fernandes gave West Ham a 2-0 lead.

The introduction of Diego Costa and Eden Hazard midway through the second half had a positive impact but Chelsea couldn’t prevent a defeat as Gary Cahill’s goal came right at the death.

Following the defeat to West Ham, Antonio Conte has turned his attention to the game against Southampton on Sunday.

“Tomorrow (Thursday) we start to work for Sunday’s game. We know we will play a very tough game against Southampton, who are in a good moment.”
