It’s yet another victory for Chelsea, another 3 points, another great performance and another cleansheet.
Let’s see how the players fared at St Mary’s.
Courtois: Relatively untroubled for large spells of the game, and he did well to save a 29th minute freekick from Tadic. 7/10
Azpilicueta: Solid as usual in the match, did a great work in defence today. Only mistake he made was a jittery back pass in the 24th minute, otherwise strong performance. 7/10
Luiz: Beautiful game from the Brazilian. His forward passing was good and he was assured at the back. 7/10
Cahill: Another strong performance from the captain. Was very solid at the back. 7/10
Moses: He has definitely made the right wing-back position his; had a good game, and gave an assist to Hazard to score the first goal. His stunning shot in the 84th minute troubled Frasier Forster, and he was deservedly given a standing ovation by the fans when substituted. 8/10
Alonso: Very good display from the Spaniard today. Was a very good outlet on the left wing when going forward. 7/10
Kante: Solid display from Kante in midfield today, and he has formed a good partnership with Matic in the middle of the park. 7/10
Matic: The Serb is dishing out excellent performances in each game, and he had another good game today. 8/10
Pedro: The Spaniard is giving Willian a run for his money on the right wing, and he had a good game today. 7/10
Hazard: The Belgian was brilliant today; his beautiful goal in the 6th minute set the pace for a comfortable Chelsea victory. Definitely my man of the match. 9/10
Costa: The Spanish international increased his goal tally with a superb effort in the 54th minute. He threatened the Southampton defence on many occasions, worked tirelessly for the team and was lively today. 8/10
Subs
Willian: Came on for Pedro in the 78th minute, and he didn’t really do much. 6/10
Ivanovic: Came on for Moses with just 3 minutes left of normal time.
Batshuayi: Was brought on very late in the game.
