It’s been over a year since Chelsea and being top of the table were associated, but after a hard-fought 1-0 win against Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium, the Blues are now seated top of the table.
We are 12 games into the season, and the table is beginning to take shape, and the men are now being separated from the boys.
As predicted, the game against Middlesbrough was a tough one and the victory didn’t come as we have become accustomed to, and you’d have to admit that we all held our hearts in our hands in anticipation of the full-time whistle, which seemed so far away as the match wore on. The team did a good job, and we played beautiful and also showed that we could play ugly when needed.
Some weeks ago, no one would have thought that Chelsea will go top of the table, after it seemed like City were running away with the league, and Chelsea were being schooled by Liverpool and Arsenal. But Conte and his men has dug deep and we are playing the best football of our life.
But, it’s now the real job begins; this season is living up to its expectations as one that will go down to the wire, and we must maintain our consistency and curb every act of nonchalance to maintain our grip on the top of the table.
