Former Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas, who’s now at Chinese Super League side Shanghai SIPG, reportedly wants to acquire Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel.

French side Marseille are keen to land Mikel in January. But they are now facing competition from Villas Boas and Shanghai SIPG who are one of China’s richest clubs and capable of outbidding Marseille for Mikel.

AVB coached Mikel at Chelsea, and at the time axed the Nigerian international from being a starter, choosing to favour Oriol Romeu in the holding midfield position.

Funny how things change with time. The former Chelsea manager is now interested in taking Mikel to China.
