Chelsea are confident of beating London rivals Arsenal in the race for 16-year-old Exeter wonderkid Ethan Ampadu, according to a report by Daily Mirror.

Even though Ampadu’s dad, Kwame, is an academy coach with the Gunners’ Under-18s, Chelsea are reportedly ahead of Arsenal in the race for sign the teenager.

Ethan made his first-team debut for Exeter in August at just 15 years, 10 months and 26 days, in a League Cup match against Brentford, and has already played for Wales at Under-19 level.

Ethan, who is a defensive midfielder, caught Chelsea’s attention when he played against Chelsea in the Checkatrade Trophy last month.
