Chelsea forward Diego Costa has been ruled out of the internationals with a groin injury.

Spain are due to play a World Cup qualifying game against Macedonia on Saturday, and a friendly against England on Tuesday, but Costa has been ruled out of those games. In his stead, Celta Vigo’s Iago Aspas has been called up to join the team.

See the statement released by the official Chelsea website: Diego Costa has been replaced in the Spain squad for their matches against Macedonia and England having been unable to take full part in training due to injury.

His place is taken by Celta Vigo’s Iago Aspas. Cesar Azpilicueta is the other Chelsea player named in the squad for what are a World Cup qualifier on Saturday and a friendly at Wembley on Tuesday.
