Chelsea fans all over the world freaked out after spotting Thibaut Courtois’ gruesome-looking red left eye and feared the worse for the keeper who has kept five consecutive clean sheets for Chelsea this season.
However, Courtois quickly allayed the fear of fans by insisting the eye injury isn’t serious and he is fine to play in that condition.
Courtois has now revealed how he got the injury after being ill following Chelsea’s 2-0 win over Southampton.
“I didn’t feel well and was sick and burst a vessel,” Courtois explained.
“It’s one of those things that looks worse than it is. It was alright when it first happened because people thought it was for Halloween.
“But it doesn’t look so good now. It doesn’t stop me playing. It’s not a problem in that sense.”
