Chelsea veteran John Mikel Obi’s contract runs out this summer, and a Chinese club are willing to give the 29-year-old more than double his wages.

According to reports, Chinese Super League outfit Shanghai SIPG tabled a deal worth £170,000-a-week during a round of talks with the Chelsea midfielder’s representatives earlier this month.

Mikel, who is yet to feature under Antonio Conte this season, asked for some time to consider the proposal.

Mikel currently earns currently earns £75,000-a-week wages at Chelsea, and Shanghai SIPG are ready to give him more than double of his salary to lure him to the Chinese Super League. They attempted to sign Mikel last season but the 29-year-old opted to stay put.
