Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has vowed to repay the faith the Chelsea owner has in him.

After Jose Mourinho was sacked, Conte was named his permanent replacement and was appointed Blues boss in the summer on a three-year deal and tasked with picking the club up off the floor after the turmoil of last season under Jose Mourinho.

Conte was named Chelsea boss after Blues owner Abramovich gave him the job, having considered the merits of a number of bosses including Mauricio Pochettino, Max Allegri, Diego Simeone and Manuel Pellegrini.

When asked what his top target was in his time at Stamford Bridge, Conte said: “I want to show the club that they’ve done well to focus on Antonio Conte for the next three years. That’s even more important than titles.

“In Italy, they want everything immediately. There is a big rush to get results, forgetting the importance of having a structure. In England, going to the stadium is a pleasure.
