Gareth Southgate is expected to be confirmed as England manager next week and he wants Chelsea coach Steve Holland as his full-time assistant or, at the very least, continue to share the position with his duties at Chelsea.
According to Standard Sport, Tottenham are the only club to express concern to the Football Association about Chelsea coach Steve Holland becoming a permanent member of Gareth Southgate’s backroom staff.
The Chelsea assistant coach has previously worked alongside Southgate with England Under-21s since 2013 and also on an interim level with England.
According to Standard Sport, Spurs are worried that if Holland is appointed part-time he will have inside knowledge on their players’ fitness and abilities which he can pass on to his colleagues at Chelsea.
Why does it have to be only Spurs who are opposed to this deal? Your guess is as good as mine.
