This season is set to be Mikel John Obi’s last season at Stamford Bridge after a decade with Chelsea.

According to Standard Sport, sources at Chelsea have revealed that Mikel’s contract which expires in the summer won’t be renewed.

29-year-old Mikel Obi joined Chelsea from Norwegian side Lyn Oslo in 2006 as Chelsea won the battle to sign the midfielder ahead of Manchester United.

Mikel Obi have so far this season failed to be included in Chelsea’s match day squad. Mikel was only able to work under Antonio Conte for one week during preseason because he represented Nigeria at the Rio Olympics.

Mikel will be able to talk to other clubs in January over a free transfer in the summer but he could leave Chelsea in January if a club makes a bid.

Mikel Obi made 378 appearances for Chelsea and won 10 major trophies at Chelsea including two Premier League titles, one Europa League and the Champions League in 2012.
