28-year-old Chelsea striker Diego Costa will miss Spain’s games against Macedonia and England due to a troublesome groin problem.
Costa missed the first two days of Spain training this week after reporting discomfort in his groin. Costa was seen limping.
Spain’s coach Julen Lopetegui had hoped Costa will play a part in the game against Macedonia but he has now been forced to rule Costa out of the game.
Lopetegui said on Wednesday: “It’s true that his recovery has not been as positive as we had expected.”
Chelsea’s medical team is reportedly monitoring Costa’s situation. Costa has started the season in good form for Chelsea and any spell on the sidelines for Costa won’t be good news for Chelsea.
We wish Diego Costa a speedy recovery. Hope he would be back in time for Chelsea’s game against Middlesbrough. Spain have replaced Diego Costa with former Liverpool player Iago Aspas.
