Once teammates at Spanish side Atletico Madrid, Diego Costa and Sergio Aguero are rated as the best strikers in the Premier League but the question everyone seems to be asking is who is better?
After watching both strikers this season, I do believe Chelsea’s Diego Costa is a better striker than Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero.
Below are 5 reasons why Diego Costa is better than Sergio Aguero
1. COSTA HAS MORE GOALS
Diego Costa is the Premier League’s leading scorer with 12 goals while Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero has scored just 10 Premier League goals for Manchester City this season. The best strikers know how to find the back of the net and that’s something Costa offers Chelsea.
2. COSTA HAS MORE ASSISTS
A modern-day striker isn’t just tasked with scoring goals, he is also expected to create goals for his teammates. This is another quality Diego Costa offers Chelsea that Aguero doesn’t offer Manchester City. Diego Costa has assisted five goals this season in the Premier League compared to Sergio Aguero who is yet to assist a goal in the Premier League this season.
3. COSTA IS A CLINICAL FINISHER
Diego Costa is a clinical striker compared to Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero who is wasteful in front of goal. 22 of Costa’s 44 shots have been on target compared to Aguero whose 27 out of 61 shots have been on target. Costa is obviously clinical in front of goal.
4. COSTA DOESN’T NEED PENALTIES
Diego Costa doesn’t take penalties for Chelsea compared to Sergio Aguero who is Manchester City’s designated penalty taker. 3 out of Aguero’s 10 Premier League goals this season have been from the penalty spot.
5. DIEGO COSTA CREATES CHANCES FOR HIS TEAMMATES
Diego Costa has created 27 chances for his teammates this season in the Premier League compared to Sergio Aguero who has created just 12 chances for his teammates at Manchester City.
Chelsea definitely have the better striker.
