It’s another weekend and the league challenge continues. Which teams will be the winners and losers this time around? Gradually, the league is taking shape in terms of positions, style and intensity. Yet, there are still a few questions that need answers: Can Jose make United great again? Can Spurs continue their resurgence? Can Liverpool bounce back? Can Arsenal keep up their momentum? Will Manchester City self-destruct again or rekindle their fire? Is it finally time for a Chelsea defeat or will the winning streak continue?
With eight consecutive wins from the last eight matches, Chelsea are in title-winning form. The second half demolition of Manchester City last weekend speaks volumes of the good work done by the manager, Antonio Conte. He has transformed a fractured squad into one now firing on all cylinders. Next up in our quest for league glory is Tony Pulis’ West Bromwich Albion. A team cast in his image and will definitely be looking to crack Conte’s secret code. This is the first in our run of much easier games during this festive period. Let’s examine three focal points in this game:
IT’S GOING TO BE A PHYSICAL CONTEST:
One identity of Antonio Conte’s teams is their high energy pressing game. He loves combative, industrious and rugged players who can sweat blood for the team’s cause. The same applies to Tony Pulis. This game will surely be a physical contest especially in midfield. The Baggies will look to out-muscle the Blues to gain dominance in the game. With news about Chelsea players bulking up in the gym ahead of this game, then this encounter might turn out to be World war 3. Let’s watch out!
WHOEVER TAKES INITIATIVE MIGHT JUST WIN IT: THE PERFECT GAME PLAN MATTERS
I certainly expect Tony Pulis to ask his wide players to stretch play in those areas and repel Chelsea wing-backs from attacking play. More so, they will look to sit defensively and then play on the counter. Conte will need to fire up his team for this one. Chelsea must set get on the pitch to dominate proceedings and possibly nick an early goal which could be well to our advantage. The longer West Brom keep the game scoreless or even score first against us, the harder the task to win and the more frustrated we become. Whoever will win this must set up with the right and perfect game plan.
TAKING THEIR CHANCES:
The ruthlessness of this Chelsea team is amazing. Against City, we had three shots and with all on target. Also, West Brom are also on a good run. This game will be down to the team that create and take its chances. Three points for grab, who wins?
Let’s find out. Hopefully Chelsea will prevail. Cheers!
