Diego Costa and Eden Hazard have been in amazing form this season, and while other teams have struggled with injuries or bans to their star players, Diego Costa and Eden Hazard have been fit and available.

The duo have been involved in over 70% of Chelsea’s goals this season, and ex Blue Pat Nevin believes Chelsea might find things difficult if anything happens to the duo.

Nevin wrote in his column: “Between them they have scored 20 of our 33 league goals, so to say that we would seriously miss either of them isn’t ‘dissin’ the rest of the squad because clearly these two are quite good! The thing is, every team is exactly the same. Do you reckon Arsenal would be as effective without Ozil and Sanchez, even if there are some pretty decent replacements? Man City are certainly going to miss Aguero who absolutely can’t complain after his ridiculous assault on David Luiz. The challengers are all a bit like that; Spurs sans Kane and Eriksen would be a shadow of their current force, so there is a lot that can change this season but certainly luck regarding injuries and suspensions will have a big impact.”

It makes it doubly impressive that Diego has managed to walk that tightrope of yellow cards for so long now. He needs one more for a suspension but if he survives four more games the threshold changes to 10 yellows and he can breathe again, for a while. Obviously his value was blatantly obvious at the weekend when he converted the only real decent opportunity of the game. Actually he made it himself, converted it and it wasn’t really a decent opportunity from that angle anyway, it was still an outside chance at best. So it was a bit special considering the impressive organisation and numbers up against him throughout the game.”
