The Chelsea loan army continued their development in their various clubs during the weekend, and a number of Chelsea loan players featured for their team.

Nathan Ake scored his third league goal this season, as he opened the scoring against Southampton on Saturday, although the Cherries eventually lost 3-1.

In the Championship, Christian Atsu lined up on the right of midfield for league leaders Newcastle who beat Burton Albion 2-1 this weekend, having sealed a 2-0 midweek away win with a substitute’s goal against Wigan Athletic. The Ghana international took full advantage of his fresh legs with a powerful finish nine minutes into his cameo.

Tomas Kalas and Lucas Piazon featured for Fulham in an entertaining 2-2 draw against Derby County. In midweek, Kalas was in the back four as the Cottagers came from behind to beat bottom-club Rotherham 2-1, a game where fellow Blue Izzy Brown set up Rotherham’s consolation during his 36 minutes of action. Piazon continued his good form by delivering the cross for the decisive goal after coming off the bench at half-time.

Kasey Palmer was in action on Friday night for Huddersfield, as they won Norwich 2-1 away from home, and he also played the entire 90 minutes earlier in the week as his snatched all 3 points against Burton late on.

It wasn’t to be for Tammy Abraham played the full 90 minutes for Bristol City who lost 2-1 at home to Preston North End, having also found himself on the losing team against Brentford. However, he almost got a goal, but for the woodwork.

In League One, Charlie Colkett started for Bristol Rovers in their 2-0 defeat at Shrewsbury, while in League Two, Jamal Blackman kept a clean sheet in a 1-0 win over Leyton Orient.

In La Liga, Jeremie Boga started and Victorien Angban came on as a substitute for Granada, who lost 2-0 at home to Real Sociedad. In Serie A, Mario Pasalic started for AC Milan in a goalless draw against Atalanta.

In the Dutch Cup on Wednesday, two of Chelsea loan players were on the scoresheet for Vitesse Arnhem. Matt Miazga opened the scoring with his first goal for the club, while Lewis Baker scored the third. This weekend Baker started and Nathan came off the bench as Vitesse lost 3-1 at league leaders Feyenoord.
