Manchester City play host to Chelsea on Saturday’s lunchtime encounter; a clash that will go a long way to decide where the title sways this season.
Chelsea and City are separated by just a point, and both teams will take this game very seriously.
What should we expect from this game?
CITY TO BOSS POSSESSION
Chelsea have bossed possession in many games this season, but you’d expect Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City to boss possession at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday. Chelsea will see less of the ball, but it’s up to the Blues to make do with the little they have and try to create impact with the little time spent on the ball.
Just like in the game against Spurs, this will be another tactical battle between two highly tactical managers. High line, intensity, pressing, etc. While Conte will go with his tried and trusted 3-4-3 formation, you’d expect Guardiola to come up with the odd formation just to outsmart the Italian and his 3-4-3 that has so far been perfect.
This match will have it all, and the most tactical team on Saturday might just carry the day.
A TIGHT GAME
I’d expect to see a tight game on Saturday, due to the strengths of each team and the tactical battle that’ll be on display on Saturday.
Chelsea’s tight defence means the Blues will not leak much goals, and City’s possession of the ball makes it hard for opposition to create many chances. This might make chances thin and few in the top-of-the-table clash.
Manchester City inflicted a 3-0 loss on Chelsea in both fixtures last season, but this fixture will be much more different from last season.
