Chelsea midfielder Mikel John Obi is considering joining former Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas at Chinese side Shanghai SIPG in January according to a report by Standard Sport.

Mikel is free to talk to clubs in January about a free transfer in the summer but Shanghai SIPG are reportedly willing to pay a nominal fee to ensure Mikel joins them in January.

Shanghai SIPG are reportedly willing to pay Mikel £170,000-a-week which is about £100,000 a week more than what he currently earns at Chelsea.

French side Marseille plus sides in Turkey and Spain are also reportedly interested in signing Mikel but the massive offer from China might see the Nigerian captain head to China.
