Tension-filled game! We showed great character to come from behind and take all 3 points against a resilient City side at the Etihad Stadium.
See how the players fared against City
Courtois: Made a number of great saves to keep Chelsea in this game. Was a class act today. 8/10
Azpilicueta: Minus an alarming back pass which could have seen Luiz gotten a red card, Azpilicueta was great at the back; worked hard in defence, covered a lot of lapses and helped the team at the back. 7/10
Luiz: Was quite lucky not to have seen a red for a slight foul on Aguero that could have seen him go through on goal. Other than that, the Brazilian was great today, and won a number of balls for the team, covered some mistakes in the backline and was a vocal present all through. 7/10
Cahill: Minus an unfortunate own goal by the captain, Cahill was solid at the back, and helped protect his goal on many occasions. 7/10
Kante: Had to work hard against a tough Manchester City midfield, and he did. 7/10
Fabregas: His first Premier League start since the loss to Arsenal, and we all saw why he’s called the pass master. Didn’t do too much when the team was defending, but his passing from deep opened City on many occasions, and his assist from deep for Costa’s goal was top-class. 7/10
Moses: He had to work hard today and the Nigerian did what was expected of him. He supported the attack on many occasions, and helped cover the right flank at the back. 7/10
Alonso: Made a number of mistakes at the back today and could have caused trouble for his own side with a worrisome back pass on the 54th minute. The City goal came from his flank which was exposed too many times. His pass from deep for Hazard’s goal was however brilliant. 6/10
Pedro: Worked hard in the first half for the team. Was substituted early in the second half. 6/10
Hazard: Our Belgian winger was excellent today. His dribbling caused the City defence a lot of troubles, and he’s a major reason we took all the 3 points today. His goal in the 90th minute sealed the win for Chelsea. 8/10
Costa: Excellent game from Costa. He started the Chelsea comeback with a beautiful goal where he had to use strength and finesse to score in the 60th minute. Also did a great job to assist Willian for the second goal 10 minutes later. Was awarded the man of the match, and it was well deserved. 9/10
Willian: Replaced Pedro just 4 minutes after the restart, and he was excellent today. Caused City’s defence too many troubles, and his goal in the 70th minute needed a combination of pace and composure. 8/10
Chalobah: Came on late in the game, but worked hard for the team and won the ball that enabled Chelsea score the third goal. 6/10
Batshuayi: Came on too late in the game.
