Antonio Conte’s men won their tenth game on the bounce against a Sunderland side that was set up to frustrate Chelsea, but Chelsea prevailed with a 1-0 victory, and it could have been more, if not for the profligacy of the Chelsea attackers.

See how the players fared:

Courtois: Was excellent today, and made two superb saves to keep Chelsea’s lead intact. His save from a Van Aanholt shot late in extra time was world-class and helped Chelsea secure all 3 points. 8/10

Azpilicueta: His 200th game for Chelsea went well, and he showed a lot of desire to help keep Chelsea’s lead intact when Sunderland started floating in long balls towards the end of the game. 7/10

Luiz: Played in the centre of the defence as usual, and was neat and tidy on the ball. 7/10

Cahill: Played on the left side of defence, and was solid for the Blues. 7/10

Kante: Was energetic in midfield today, and helped his teammates recover a lot of balls. His header won the ball that led to the goal. 7/10

Fabregas: He ran the show in midfield today, his passing was excellent and he made the midfield tick for Chelsea. His goal helped give Chelsea the 3 points. Definitely the man of the match. 8/10

Moses: Tried a number of times to penetrate the Black Cats defence, but his finishing let him down a number of times. Positive game from the Nigerian. 7/10

Alonso: Didn’t face much pressure at the left side of defence, and tried to help give the team width on the left flank. 6/10

Willian: Was exciting today, and on another day could have gotten a goal, but his finishing wasn’t really good enough. He got an assist today and troubled the Black Cats defence. 7/10

Pedro: Was involved in the buildup to the goal, but today wasn’t really his day, and he was withdrawn in the 2nd half for Nemanja Matic. 6/10

Costa: On another day, Costa could easily have gotten a brace from Cesc Fabregas’ passes tonight; he made a number of good runs but forgot his scoring boots at home. 6/10

Matic: Came on for Pedro, and helped keep things tight in midfield. 6/10

Chalobah: Came on late for Willian to keep things solid for Chelsea.

Ivanovic: Came in for Moses to help preserve Chelsea’s lead late in the game.

Chelsea is more than just a football club to me; it's a passion I share, and my affinity with the Chelsea badge is one that will last forever. As far as watching my favourite team is concerned, I'd rather miss a meal than miss a Chelsea game.
