With many pundits tipping Manchester City to win against Chelsea, former Welsh footballer and Mirror pundit, Robbie Savage has tipped the Blues to come out victorious in a game that has been deemed as a title-decider by many.
Savage believes that the differences between the two sides lie in defence. While City have a fragile defence, he believes Chelsea’s strong defence will count in the game.
Savage wrote in the Mirror: “Yes, I know it’s too early to start handing out medals and tying one club’s colours to the Premier League trophy.
“But I expect Conte to get more joy out of Manchester City’s defensive uncertainty than Guardiola will get out of Chelsea’s remodelled 3-4-3 formation.”
After analysing the attack and midfield of both teams, Savage believes they match each other strength for strength in those positions, but believes City’s defence will count against them.
“So it’s going to come down to defensive discipline, organisation and reliability – and on that basis, I fancy Chelsea’s reworked back three to cope better with City’s attacking threat than the home side will keep Conte’s forwards on a short leash.” Savage wrote.
