It’s a sweet feeling to be top of the league, but being able to handle the pressure that comes with it makes it sweeter and then winning the league is sweetest. Chelsea are in no position of complacency or compromise and must protect their lead at the top. Certainly, we can’t win every game, but we can limit the margin for errors and lethargy that might suddenly creep into our game. After an impressive run of 11 consecutive league wins, the battle will be fiercer. As the saying goes, “when the going gets tough, then the tough must get going”. That’s exactly the antidote for firepower.

Here are 3 reasons why Eddie Howe’s side are dangerous:

ATHLETIC, YOUNG, DYNAMIC AND ATTACKING TEAM:

Can any Chelsea fan remember what happened a year ago?  Chelsea lost 1-0 to Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge courtesy of a Glenn Murray late strike which increased the pressure on us as then defending champions. In retrospect, that defeat was humiliating, disastrous and a kick at the teeth. The warning signs were there as the Cherries played an attacking game with lightning pace, incisive passing, and hard and direct runs into channels that exposed Chelsea’s defensive frailties. We were shot for dead like a cat without nine lives. They pressed, wrestled and harried play and it paid off for them.

Though the match will be contested in different circumstances today, being that we were out of form then, but now in red-hot form that has produced a league winning possibility, but we must take the game to them, battle with them toe to toe and never underestimate them. No room for errors or complacency should be seen in our game.

THE MOTIVATION TO END OUR WINNING STREAK:

Unarguably, we are the team to beat. But the question is: ‘who will eventually beat Chelsea?’ This is a puzzle many managers are working hard to solve and crack the Antonio Conte secret code. There’s no opportunity for Bournemouth to be the team of the week other than to beat Chelsea. There’s no harm in trying and we must be cautious of their burning passion to do so. They will play the spoilers game so we must ready for whatever they throw at us.

NOTHING TO LOSE:

Bournemouth have nothing to lose going into this game especially in a league of unlimited possibilities. No one is expecting them to beat Chelsea, but there are chances they can do so. So, collecting points against us is a bonus and boost to their Premier league status. So, we must take the game by the scruff of its neck and kill it. No excuses and no half measures should be seen in our game.

Let’s hope to have the cherries on our cake as we celebrate victory. Always a true Blue…Cheers!
