Four Chelsea players went to the ongoing African Cup of Nations with their national teams, and only one has exited the tournament — Ivory Coast’s Victorien Angban who’s on loan to Granada.
However two (or three players, if you add the injured Baba Rahman) of the four Chelsea players who went to the African Cup of Nations, has made it to the semifinals of the African Cup of Nations.
Yesterday, Bertrand Traore’s Burkina Faso booked a place in the semifinals after beating Tunisia 2-0, and now Christian Atsu and Baba Rahman’s Ghana have reached the semis as well, after winning a hard-fought game against Congo DR 2-1.
Jordan Ayew put Ghana ahead, and then Paul-Jose M’Poku scored a remarkable goal to level the scores.
Atsu, was a constant threat in the game, and one of his amazing runs led to a penalty, which was duly converted by Andre Ayew to give Ghana a 2-1 victory.
