Chelsea’s FA Cup clash against Peterborough went according to plan (well, except the John Terry red card). It was a perfect victory for Chelsea, a good team performance, and despite making 9 changes from the team that started against Tottenham, Chelsea were superb against Peterborough.

Some young players had a good game, and I’m sure they must have given Conte something to think about.

These 3 young players must have caught Conte’s attention with their performance:

Ruben Loftus-Cheek

I don’t know about you, but this to me is Loftus-Cheek’s best performance in a Chelsea jersey. He was the shining light in the Chelsea midfield, was strong on the ball, worked hard, showed desire (something we’ve rarely seen from the youngster), kept the ball well, passed the ball well, beat players at will, ran with the ball, had sharp movements etc. I could go on and on about how good the 20-year-old was, and on many occasions during the game, I kept calling him Yaya Toure.

Loftus-Cheek was amazing against Peterborough, and Conte must have been impressed with the youngster. Will he still go out on loan? That’ll now be a tough call to make.

Kurt Zouma

Zouma played for the senior team for the first time in 11 months, and the Frenchman showed no sign of match rustiness. His pace was still evident, he was comfortable on the ball, and fitted well in the 3-4-3 system, as Conte slotted him in the right side of the defence.

Never for once did Zouma look nervy, and I’m sure Conte will be happy with his performance.

Nathaniel Chalobah

The young midfielder has been on loan for the past 6 seasons, before Conte chose to recall him back to the squad. He was simple but yet efficient in front of the backline, and in many ways he reminded me of former Blue, Mikel Obi. His passing was neat and tidy, and he had a good understanding with Cesc Fabregas in middle. If he continues with assured performances like this, he might go on to stay many years at Chelsea — and be an important player.
