Chelsea back up goal keeper, Asmir Begovic on Saturday confirmed reports linking him with a move away from Stamford Bridge. The shot-stopper granted an interview, and was quoted as saying he is ‘desperate to play’. I have no problem with Asmir wanting to leave Chelsea, but I am trying hard to understand why he’s suddenly realised he needs regular first team football. I recall he was the one who put pen to paper, and agreed to a deal with Chelsea just a season ago, and now he wants to leave? Did he not consider the contract very well before signing the deal? From his interview it would seem like he is playing ‘victim’ when he knew fully well what he was getting into.
Courtois has always been our number one, and we only approached Begovic to be number two following Cech’s departure to Arsenal. Like he said, he ‘wanted to compete’, it’s nobody’s fault if he couldn’t. Football is all about competition, if you aren’t good enough, you don’t her a chance. I know how many times Begovic featured for us barcode now, but he didn’t quite prove a match for Courtois. If he wants to leave, he can, I’m sure Chelsea won’t stand in his way, but it’s wrong how he’s suddenly trying to make it seem like we did him wrong. He put himself where he is today.
P.S: These are just my thoughts on his situation.
