Chelsea development squad recorded their first away win of the season after a confident 4-0 win against Leicester City U23 side on Friday afternoon.
After a dominant start to the season, Mukhtar Ali put the young Blues ahead from the penalty spot, just after 37 minutes played.
Five minutes after the restart, Darnell Johnson scored an own goal to increase Chelsea’s lead to 2-0.
Two further goals late on put a gloss on the scoreline for the visitors. Ali headed in his second of the afternoon from close range following another inviting cross from Wakefield before Solanke added a fourth, beating two defenders coming inside from the left before rifling his finish into the bottom corner.
The win extends our unbeaten run in the league to eight matches and keeps Viveash’s side in fourth place. The development squad return to league action with a trip to Arsenal on Friday 27 January.
