Chelsea have been in incredible form since October, and the Blues have some tough games coming up next, and Chelsea legend Pat Nevin is particular that winning such games will go a long way to staking a claim on the title.
Tottenham, Leicester City, Hull City, Liverpool and Arsenal are up next for the Blues, and Nevin wrote in his column for the Chelsea website: “In fact, even though we are in the middle of three games in nine days, admittedly with more rest than any of the other top sides, I actually think the game coming up against Spurs should be considered the first of a new set of five really tough Premier League games that will have a huge outcome in the title race.
We face a resurgent Spurs away, Liverpool at Anfield, and an improving Leicester also away, and ‘welcoming’ Arsenal to the Bridge with only Hull at home giving some possible respite. It is another one of those runs when you think if we are still on top of the table after that, by however many points, then the real serious thought of winning the title can come to the fore, but not before then. This is when it counts and as such there are a few games in there when I will not be devastated if we come away with only a single point. Against our closest rivals, a point is much better for us than them.”
