Chelsea have made more profit in player sales than Arsenal, Manchester City and Manchester United, a report on the Daily Star say. Chelsea sit behind Tottenham Hotspur in the charts, as Spurs have turned over more profit from player sales in the same time frame than any Premier League club.
The club’s annual reports show Chelsea have made an overall profit of £275.7 million from player sales, just behind Tottenham’s £287 million, with their figure being massively boosted by the sale of Gareth Bale to Real Madrid for £85m in the 2013/13 season.
According to the report, Chelsea’s loan system is quite profitable, as Chelsea have accumulated their impressive figure by selling the likes of Patrick Bamford to Middlesbrough for £6m after buying him for £1.5m, despite him never making an appearance for the club.
While Chelsea made £287 million in profit from player sales, Arsenal made £262.9 million overall, ahead of Manchester United (£171.3 million), Liverpool (£146.6 million) and Manchester City (£75.1 million).
