Diego Costa missed the game against Leicester due to ‘injury’ sustained during training, according to coach Conte, even though the British media told us a different story. In case you missed it, according to reports in England this past week, Costa got suspended from the Leicester match after he was involved in a row with the management of Chelsea over a bid from China. Apparently, there was a big money bid from China, Chelsea refused to sell, and Costa tried to use the opportunity to get a bumper deal from Chelsea. The club refused, hence the row. As I mentioned, Conte refuted those rumors, as did the Chelsea management. Even Costa cleared the air when he posted a picture of Chelsea on his instagram page with a caption that suggested he’s still very much part and parcel of the club.

Now, my stance is, now that the air seem to have been cleared, and the player is back in training, he has to get back into the team. We all expect that as Chelsea fans. It’s the interest of the club before anyone else. Costa has been instrumental to our success thus far, and his importance cannot be overstated. We may have won against Leicester without him, but of course, you don’t expect things to be like that always. We have depended on his goals to win on many occasions this season, and you never know what a game will bring. I say, play the man, and I’m sure he’d have learned his lessons by now if really the rumors are true. We need all the best legs we can get, especially now that the season only gets tougher.
