Chelsea have shown an interest in signing Celtic’s goalkeeper Craig Gordon, and while Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has dismissed such rumours, saying Chelsea “are wasting their time”, reports now have it that Gordon is being tempted by the offer.
However, former Celtic striker Charlie Nicholas believes the club should offer Gordon an improved deal, to scupper Chelsea’s plan.
He said: “Celtic should do more than trigger that option, they should put Gordon on a contract that reflects his talents, his worth to the Rodgers revolution and make the decision to stay in Glasgow a formality.
“At the moment, Celtic have a keeper they know can do the job and who is settled at the club. Why allow that situation to change?”
