Former Blues favourite and assistant manager Ray Wilkins, does not believe Michy Batshuayi is the solution to Conte’s striking department in the absence of first-choice striker Diego Costa.
The 23-year-old started for Chelsea against Peterborough in the FA Cup, and despite recording a goal and an assist, he didn’t impress Wilkins.
“When I watched him he was like a guy starved of playing for the first team, and he was out to impress so badly,” said Wilkins, speaking to Sky Sports News.
“He really wanted to do well – he ran everywhere, his ball control was pretty poor when it was played up to him.
“I don’t think when you’ve got Costa in the type of form he’s in, that Batshuayi would be the answer to come in.”
