It’s yet another week and win in our quest for a trophy as we sailed past Peterborough in our FA Cup third round clash. While we’re still basking in the euphoria of victory and our passage into the next stage of the competition, an addition was made to the team – step forward, Dutch defender, Nathan Ake was recalled back to the club from his loan move to Bournemouth.

The academy graduate agreed to join the Chelsea youth system from Feyenoord in late 2010 at the age of 15. He had played at Feyenoord since the age of 12 after joining the club from ADO Den Haag. Since signing for the club, his stock has risen and is being billed as a huge prospect. He is a star player in the making and his impressive displays on loan at both Watford (last season) and Bournemouth (this season) haven’t gone unnoticed. His versatility as a left-footed player can see him deputise in central defence, holding or defensive midfield and wingback/fullback

He will be fondly remembered by the Chelsea Faithful for his winning goal against Liverpool while in Bournemouth. More so, with Chelsea linked with Wolfsburg left back, Ricardo Rodriguez and Spurs left back, Ben Davies, recalling Ake is a good move on the financial side. At 21, he offers both youth and prospect owing to the fact that we didn’t have to pay a transfer fee to get him. More so, he qualifies as an academy graduate into the first team with the club desperately looking to have someone replace John Terry as the last of a dying breed.

Let’s hope for the best as he gives the team a lift in our title push. Cheers!
