A number of Chelsea players have been in superb form this season, and have led Chelsea’s charge to the title. Diego Costa has been phenomenal, and so has the likes of N’Golo Kante, Eden Hazard and Pedro Rodriguez.
Former footballer turned pundit, Jamie Redknapp has revealed his Player of the Year so far — and it’s the enigmatic Diego Costa.
“If you had to pick the Player of the Year right now it would have to be Diego Costa — but he would certainly be a winner who divides opinion,” Redknapp wrote in his Daily Mail Column.
“Costa is in blistering form and in terms of his contribution to Chelsea’s title bid, where he has scored 15 goals, it is difficult to see who would beat him.
“But after the events of the last week there would surely be several professionals who could not vote for the striker.”
Redknapp then revealed that Costa’s temperament might be his undoing, just like Luis Suarez.
He wrote: “Costa polarises opinion as much as Luis Suarez, who won Player of the Year in 2013-14 after returning from a ban for biting.
“There are suggestions that Costa is unmanageable — but at his best he is unplayable.”
