Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has preferred to stick with Gary Cahill, David Luiz and Cesar Azpilicueta as the three central defenders in Chelsea’s 3-4-3 system which have seen John Terry lose his place in the starting XI.
Chelsea have done well without our captain in the starting XI and the team also went on a 13-game winning run without our captain in the starting XI.
John Terry states he hopes he doesn’t play again this season for Chelsea if it means the team keeps winning.
“I’m honestly hoping that I don’t play this season, that they keep winning and I genuinely mean that,” Terry told BT Sport.
“When you’ve got a manager like Conte who’s been honest with me from day one ‘Listen, you’re not getting back in, the boys are playing great, team’s flying’.
“You know you haven’t got a leg to stand on.
“You do things the right way because of the love of the club and how good everyone’s been to you over the years.”
