Chelsea legend and skipper John Terry was sent off during Chelsea’s 4-1 win over Peterborough United on Sunday and Martin Keown believes it’s the beginning of the end for Terry.
Keown told Daily Mail: “John Terry’s worst nightmare became reality on Sunday. After spending so long on the sidelines, he comes into the team and gets sent off.
“It looks like the beginning of the end for him at Chelsea. When you get past a certain age, it’s always tough to wrestle your career back after it starts slipping away.
“Chelsea have been magnificent without him this year, breaking the club record for wins in a row and have conceded just 15 league goals this season in 20 games.
“Cesar Azpilicueta is far more mobile than him in Antonio Conte’s back three. So getting sent off will do Terry no favours. He is not being picked and there is no talk of a new contract so I think he could well be off to America soon.”
