In the Dutch league, Vitesse Arnhem recorded a 2-1 win over AZ Alkmaar, and Chelsea duo Lewis Baker and Nathan were the scorers.
Elsewhere in the Netherlands, Marco van Ginkel might not have found the back of the net, but the midfielder claimed an assist for Davy Propper’s deflected late winner at Heracles.
In the Bundesliga, Andreas Christensen and Borussia Monchengladbach came back with a bang after recovering from two goals down to win a thrilling Rhine derby at Bayer Leverkusen. Michael Hector and Eintracht Frankfurt also recorded a win, the defender appearing for the final five minutes at Schalke.
In the Serie A, Mario Pasalic played the entire game as AC Milan suffered a 2-1 defeat at Udinese.
In Spain, Jeremie Boga’s 60th-minute introduction couldn’t save Granada from a 2-0 defeat at Villarreal which leaves them rooted to the foot of the table with a six-game winless run.
In Turkey, Kenneth Omeruo was back in the starting line-up as they were beaten 2-1 by Antalyaspor.
