Chelsea have been granted planning permission for a £500 million redevelopment of Stamford Bridge, after Hammersmith and Fulham Council’s planning committee voted unanimously to approve the proposal for a 60,000-seat stadium at a meeting on Wednesday evening.

The current capacity is 41,663, and with Roman Abramovich ready to bankroll the massive project, the new Stamford Bridge stadium will sit 60,000 fans.

The new stadium is expected to be completed in time for the 2021/22 season.
