It wasn’t as easy as we’d have thought, but Chelsea fought hard to win Hull City 2-0, a victory that extended Chelsea’s lead at the top of the table to 8 points.
See how the players fared today:
Courtois: Made 4 super saves to keep a clean sheet today, and the Belgian was awesome in goal for Chelsea. Had a very good game. 8/10
Azpilicueta: Was his usual hardworking self, and combined well with Victor Moses to keep the right side of the defence solid. 7/10
Luiz: Had a good physical battle with Hernandez, and it was one which he enjoyed. Did a good job at the back. 7/10
Cahill: The captain had a good game in defence, and also went forward to give Chelsea a much-needed goal in the second-half, at a time when Hull were looking dangerous. 8/10
Moses: Was wonderful in his right wing-back position today, and his assist for Diego Costa’s goal helped Chelsea go into the half-time on top. 7/10
Matic: Had to do a lot of physical work in the second-half, as Hull became a bit more dominant. 7/10
Kante: Energy, work rate and tireless running — the Frenchman showed them all against Hull today. 7/10
Alonso: He was lucky that the referee didn’t spot his tackle on Hernandez that could have led to a penalty just after the restart. Had a decent game on the left flank. 6/10
Hazard: Wasn’t his day today, but he caused Hull City one or two problems. Eventually got substituted for Willian with about 20 minutes left to play. 6/10
Pedro: He worked hard for the team, but didn’t see enough space to do his magic today. 6/10
Costa: Not his best game as a centre-forward, but he did everything a top class centre-forward would do — score with his first chance. Almost got another goal late in the second-half from a beautiful Cesc Fabregas pass. 7/10
Subs
Fabregas: Replaced Hazard with 20 minutes left to play, and he was superb. Assisted Gary Cahill’s goal with a good delivery from a freekick, and almost got another assist, with a beautiful delivery for Costa. 7/10
Willian: Replaced Willian with 20 minutes left to play, and added a bit more bite to Chelsea’s attack. 6/10
Batshuayi: Replaced Costa with just 4 minutes left of normal time.
