Reports emerging lately are strong, and suggest that Chelsea defender, Branislav Ivanovic may well be on his way away from Stamford Bridge. It’s unclear where he may be headed yet, with Zenith St. Petersburg and Everton among possible destinations. If this move materializes, what would it mean for us?

I understand why Ivanovic may be considering a move away from Chelsea. His position has been usurped by Victor Moses, he’s featured less for Chelsea, and that doesn’t help his career. So it’s perfectly understandable why he’s seeking to leave, and we wouldn’t be mad if he eventually did. He’s a good player, even though his standards have dipped. There was a time when Chelsea wouldn’t think twice about renewing his contract, but with the way things are, I doubt that would happen.

Victor is playing on top of his game now, our defence is solid, so I don’t see a way back into the team for him. If he would be willing, the FA Cup is his only hope of getting regular football, but I doubt he’d want to sit back and just play only in that competition. That said, I think we’ll  be just fine without him at Chelsea. If we can be this good without leader, Terry, then, there’s no reason to not be over Iva. He was one of the best at a time, and if he left, his times at Chelsea will always be fondly remembered.

King Jay is a writer/broadcaster with years of experience under his belt. His love affair with Chelsea actually began as a joke, but today, he stands tall as a die-hard blue. What makes him perfect for this blog? He lives for Chelsea FC, in fact, I heard he sat in the middle of a road, and refused to go home after that bitter loss to Barcelona in 2009. Haha.
