Nathan Ake was in good form during his loan spell with Bournemouth, and then the rumours started to link him with a return to Chelsea in January, and early in the month of January, Antonio Conte decided to recall back the young Dutchman.
Ake revealed how he felt after Conte called him to tell of the news.
“I had three days off because I wasn’t in Bournemouth’s FA Cup squad,” Ake told the Daily Mail. “I was in Gran Canaria with my missus and the phone rang.
“It was the manager saying, ‘Can you come back?’
“If the manager calls to say you’ve done well and he wants you back then it is good, it’s a positive sign.
“But I felt a bit nervous to be honest. I hadn’t been at Chelsea for a long time.
“I left two years ago. It felt like a long time and I wasn’t sure how it would be.”
Ake is yet to play for Chelsea in the Premier League, since his return, but he played the entire game in the FA Cup match against Brentford.
