Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is known for giving excuses after defeats and today he again gave another excuse after Arsenal were comprehensively beaten by Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
According to Wenger, Alonso’s goal should have been disallowed because he felt Bellerin was fouled by Alonso. Its obvious Wenger was the only person in the world (and maybe with some Arsenal fans who see him as the best coach in the world, lol) who saw a foul on Bellerin by Alonso.
“Of course it was a foul but they allowed the goal,” Wenger said.
“I think we started well and then after that it was difficult because we were 1-0 down. We paid for that. We were not good enough in possession.
“We lost many balls in positions where you cannot afford to lose it against a counter-attacking side.
“We did not create enough in the final third. The decision was for me very quick.
“You have to respect it – it was the head.
“Referees are much more severe with tackles on the ground but they let more goals in with elbows to the face – not just today but many other games.”
Arsenal may become a better team if Wenger learns from Conte by accepting defeats and trying to improve in the next game. Well, Wenger will always be Wenger.
