Chelsea’s interest in signing Belgium and Everton star striker Romelu Lukaku during the summer wasn’t just a rumour.
Antonio Conte was interested in bringing back the former Chelsea forward to Stamford Bridge, but Everton were hell-bent on keeping the Belgian.
Well, if Conte is still interested in signing the forward, his recent comments clearly show that he wouldn’t want to be an Everton player next season.
He took to twitter to show his appreciation for the UEFA Champions League. He posted: “UCL is where reputations are built… what a competition, what a game.”
With Chelsea’s place in Europe’s elite competition all but guaranteed, Lukaku will be interested in a move back to the club where he still has a point to prove.
The Everton striker left the Blues for a loan stint at Goodison Park in 2013 before making the move permanent a year later. He has gone on to score an incredible 78 goals in just 153 appearances.
