Chelsea development squad were in action this afternoon against their Manchester City counterpart in the Premier League 2, but they lost to the Citizens, which was the team’s first league defeat since September.

Despite Chelsea being at home, it was the visitors who raced into a 2-0 lead as Brahim Diaz bagged an early brace before the Blues fought back to go in level at the break with goals from Charly Musonda and Josimar Quintero.

Diaz completed his hatrick for City from the spot in the 73rd minute, before Isaac Buckley made it 4 for them three minutes later.

Mason Mount could only score late in the game to help reduce the deficit, as the young Blues lost 4-3.

Adi Viveash’s side return to action next Friday 24 February with a Premier League 2 trip to Arsenal.
