Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk has been linked with a summer move to several Premier League sides including Chelsea.
According to a report by The Sun, the £50 million-rated Van Dijk will snub a move away this summer and stay at Southampton.
The report claims Southampton sought assurances from Van Dijk that he was committed to Southampton before making him captain following the departure of Jose Fonte to West Ham last month.
“When Virgil took the captaincy, it was on the understanding he would lead the team until the end of next season as a minimum,” a source told The Sun.
“He has a long-term contract and is settled at the club.”
