A legend of Frank Lampard’s calibre deserves a befitting tribute. Lampard who’s regarded as one of the greatest players to have played for Chelsea was given a befitting tribute during half-time, as Chelsea hosted Swansea at Stamford Bridge.
Lampard, who announced his retirement earlier this month, scored 211 goals in 648 games and won 13 trophies during a glorious career at Stamford Bridge.
The Chelsea fans sang his name throughout the game and at half time he did a lap of honour before making a brilliant speech to thank the fans.
“I didn’t get the chance to say goodbye properly for whatever reason,” said Lampard.
“I want to thank the club for giving me the chance to do that. Most importantly I want to thank all of you, everybody.
“Thank you. All my special memories of this place – and I’m thinking about them right now – I couldn’t have done it without you. We couldn’t have done it without you.”
