Chelsea boss Antonio Conte was in the London Stadium on Wednesday, where he saw Man City beat West Ham. City boss Pep Guardiola said after that game that the title is Chelsea’s to lose.
In his pre-match press conference ahead of the Arsenal game, Conte revealed that it’s a normal strategy every manager uses, while urging his players not to be complacent.
“It’s a normal mental strategy every single coach tries to use for his players and to put a bit of pressure on the others,” Conte responded, before pointing out how the league table looked after we lost to Arsenal in September, also the day we saw the 3-4-3 for the first time.
“At that moment I remember we were maybe seven points from City, to answer to Pep. The situation can change very quickly, also if you have 10 points more than the opponent.
“At that moment City had seven points more than Chelsea. After 18 games the situation has changed. There are 15 games and we must pay great attention, to reply to Pep.”
Yes, we must pay great attention to reply Pep Guardiola, and it starts with a win against Arsenal on Saturday.
