It’s often said that Rome wasn’t built in one day. Well said, but if a rebuilding process has to completed in record time, two vital requirements are needed: a strategic plan drawn & laid out by the project manager and skillful builders. The quality of the job is determined by their diligence and expertise. That’s what Chelsea needed after a disastrous league campaign last season. The best was needed to transform the club’s ruins into wins that will take us back to where we belong – among the elites of world football.

Then came in, Italian Coach, Antonio Conte as new Chelsea manager in the summer. His job appeared like a herculean task, but he has gone about it with great aplomb. With Chelsea currently leading the league table & on the verge of a historic double, this surely speaks volumes of Conte’s managerial savvy. What a difference he has made in a short space of time, especially as his Chelsea side were considered outsiders for the title & top four spot. His stock is surely on the rise and he deserved a new & improved deal. Here are 3 reasons for this:

How many managers have made the kind of impact Conte has at Chelsea? He has transformed Chelsea from being frustrated bystanders to league leaders – likely league champions. What a remarkable difference this is considering this has been achieved with virtually the same players José labelled ‘betrayers’ after their underperformance last season. The fracture relic of last season have been drilled to become a force. The unfitting materials have been tailored to perfect design by ‘tailor Conte’ to appear champions-elect. The quenched fire in the players that led to their burnout has been rekindled to turn them into a blazing inferno. Both in style and substance, Chelsea are now the real deal which is a credit to Conte’s phenomenal influence at the club.

Only a handful of managers can boast of winning silverware in their first season at a new club, but Conte is strongly on the verge of staking a claim to that. It will be foolhardy not to reward the manager for his swashbuckling achievement of positioning Chelsea within touching distance of wining both the league title and FA Cup trophy. This is quite remarkable and surely Conte needs to sign a new & improved contract to dispel transfer rumours.

The effects of Jose’s third season syndrome caused a tsunami at the club last season. On & off field issues like staff & players discord, verbal attacks against referees and the Football Association, opposition managers have been laid to rest by Antonio Conte’s calming influence. This has been the bedrock of his success so far at Chelsea. Now players are performing better compared to last season. The constant criticisms of players have been replaced by an intelligent response that speak volumes of team unity. As Conte would always say:

“We win together and lose together as a team”.

Such a response makes the players to know their manager’s faith & belief in them & that’s why they would be willing to give everything for him. His handling of Chelsea dressing room has been fantastic. Keeping the team in good shape, making fringe players have a sense of belonging and shrewd transfer dealings have been quite impressive. Chelsea can’t wish anyone better to do the job than Conte. He deserves to be rewarded.

Let’s hope for the best. Cheers!.
